What Porcelain Veneers Can Correct

Veneers are a versatile option that can address multiple cosmetic issues at once. Common concerns they treat include discoloration that does not respond to whitening, chips or small fractures, slightly misshapen or uneven teeth, minor spacing issues, and worn-down edges. Because each veneer is custom-crafted to match the shape, size, and color of your surrounding teeth, the finished result blends seamlessly and looks completely natural.

The Veneer Process

Getting veneers typically takes two to three appointments. During your first visit, Dr. Tran will evaluate your teeth, discuss your goals, and prepare the tooth surface by removing a thin layer of enamel to ensure a proper fit. Digital scans are taken in place of traditional putty impressions, making the process more comfortable and precise. Once your custom veneers are ready, they are carefully bonded to your teeth and adjusted for a perfect fit.

How Long Do Porcelain Veneers Last?

With proper care, porcelain veneers can last 10 to 15 years or longer. The longevity of your veneers depends on how well you maintain them and whether you avoid habits that place unnecessary stress on the porcelain. Grinding or clenching your teeth, biting your nails, or using your teeth to open packages can shorten their lifespan. If you grind your teeth at night, Dr. Tran may recommend a custom nightguard to protect both your veneers and your natural teeth. Staying consistent with routine dental visits gives us the opportunity to monitor your veneers over time and address any concerns before they become bigger issues.

Are Porcelain Veneers Right for You?

Veneers are an excellent option for patients who are in good overall oral health and are looking to address cosmetic concerns that cannot be resolved through whitening or bonding alone. Because the process involves removing a small amount of enamel, it is considered irreversible, which is why Dr. Tran takes the consultation process seriously. He will review your dental history, assess the current condition of your teeth, and walk you through exactly what the process involves so you can make a fully informed decision. For patients who want to address multiple teeth at once or achieve a more dramatic transformation, veneers are often combined with other treatments as part of a smile makeover.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not sure what to expect from the veneer process? These are the questions our patients ask most often, along with straightforward answers to help you feel informed and confident before your visit.

Yes. Porcelain closely mimics the light-reflecting properties of natural tooth enamel, which is why well-crafted veneers are virtually indistinguishable from your surrounding teeth. Dr. Tran custom-designs each veneer to match the appropriate shape, size, and color for your smile so the results are cohesive and natural-looking.

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the process. The tooth preparation step involves removing a small, thin layer of enamel, which is done with local anesthesia to keep you comfortable. Some mild sensitivity is normal in the days following placement, but it typically resolves quickly.

Veneers are considered a cosmetic procedure and are generally not covered by dental insurance. We offer flexible financing through Cherry, CareCredit, and Alphaeon to help make treatment more accessible. Our team is happy to walk you through your options at your consultation.
